Here is a simple, fun way to encourage everyone in your family. Have an Encouragement Blitz! This is a good activity to play during a long car trip, at dinnertime, or during a family meeting.
- Each person gets to be the focus of an encouragement blitz. During that person’s turn his/her role is simply to listen without saying anything.
- For sixty seconds everyone else calls out all the things that they love, admire, or respect about the focus person.
- It is helpful to use “I” phrases. For instance: “I love your smile.” “I admire your perseverance,” “I appreciate your help with the dishes.”
I found this idea in a book called The Magic of Encouragement: Nurturing Your Child’s Self-Esteem by Stephanie Marston, but I think this idea could also be used by adults in a small group setting, like your Bible study group or a committee that you are working on.

What a wonderful idea, Sharla! And not just for family... Blessings!
